Security Council’s members highly commend Algeria’s efforts for Palestinian reconciliationUNITED NATIONS (New York)- During the debate of the UN Security Council, held on Tuesday and devoted to the situation in the Middle East, notably the Palestinian issue, several members of the Security Council largely highlighted and highly commended the efforts made by Algeria for the Palestinian reconciliation.
In this respect, the head of the Security Council as well as several other countries called on the international community to support all the efforts to succeed the inter-Palestinian reconciliation, stressing the importance of the reconciliation for the revival of the political process aimed at reaching a fair and lasting solution to this issue.
In his speech, ambassador Nadir Larbaoui, Algeria’s permanent representative to the United Nations, emphasized the efforts of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which led to a meeting in Algiers, on the occasion of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the recovery of the national independence, between the Palestinian President and the head of the political bureau of Hamas Movement, a historic meeting after several years of tension.
Noting that the political and peaceful option is the only way to settle the Palestinian issue, the Algerian diplomat said that Algeria tried hard to unify the Palestinian ranks by hosting the Palestinian national dialogue to discuss everything that strengthens the unity of the Palestinian domestic front and the commitment to all the relevant resolutions and international legality, enabling the Palestinian brothers to be fully prepared to engage in future negotiations.
He said that the Council’s repeated meetings with similar outcomes are never up to par with the sacrifices and suffering of the brotherly Palestinian people.
