Conference on Militancy of Algerian Women hails struggle of Algerian women in building process
ALGIERS- Ministers of Social Affairs, who took part Saturday in the International Conference on "the Militancy of Algerian Women: from the War of Liberation to the Building Process,” hailed the struggle of Algerian women during the War of Liberation, their role in the post-independence building process and the achievements they have made.The conference's final communiqué, read by Arab League Under-Secretary-General and Head of the Arab League's Social Affairs Department, Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, said the conference "provided an opportunity to learn about the experiences of participating friendly and brotherly countries and to affirm the commitment to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially the fifth goal relating to the empowerment of women.”
The communiqué also commended the successful experiences of the countries participating in the Conference in facilitating women's empowerment and promoting them as one of the pillars of development in society, highlighting efforts to support the economic empowerment of women.
The recommendations of the conference focused on "strengthening the efforts of the international community under joint action and the exchange of successful experiences in the empowerment of women in various fields.”
The participants advocated "the involvement of women in political action to hold key positions and decision-making positions while continuing to consolidate the cognitive capacities of Arab women in terms of financial management. They also called for providing the necessary support to women to create SMEs.”
Participants insisted on supporting Palestinian women's activism at all levels.
