President Tebboune receives French counterpart
 
ALGIERS-President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune officially welcomed, on Thursday, his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic.
The French president began a three-day official visit to Algeria on Thursday afternoon at the head of a large delegation.
Upon his arrival at Houari-Boumediene International Airport, he was welcomed by President Tebboune, in the presence of the State’s senior officials and members of the Government.
At the Martyr's Sanctuary (Algiers), President Macron laid a wreath of flowers and observed a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of the glorious National Liberation War.   
 
President Tebboune holds talks with French counterpart
 
ALGIERS- President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, held on Thursday at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic, talks with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.
Earlier, the President of the Republic has officially received his French counterpart at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic.
The French president began Thursday afternoon a three-day official visit to Algeria at the head of a delegation.
Upon arrival, he was received at the Houari-Boumediene International Airport by President Tebboune in the presence of senior state officials and members of the Government.
At the Martyrs' Memorial in Algiers, President Macron laid a wreath of flowers and observed a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of the glorious war of national liberation.
 
Algeria-France: Arkab receives head of France-Algeria Association, GM of Ardian
ALGIERS- The minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received Friday in Algiers the chairman of France-Algeria Association and the general manager of the private investment company "Ardian," the ministry said in a statement.
"The minister of Energy and Mines, Mr Mohamed Arkab, received Friday 26 August 2022, at the headquarters of his ministerial department, the chairman of France-Algeria Association, Mr Arnaud Montebourg, and the general manager of Ardian, head of the think-tank CapMena, Mr Francois Touazi," the statement said.
The discussions focused on cooperation prospects in the technological field (hydrocarbons and mines) and the possibilities of funding industrial projects, the statement said.
 
 
President Tebboune, French counterpart chair meeting of chief security officers of both countries
ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, the minister of National Defense, chaired Friday with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, a meeting of the heads of security services in the two countries, the presidency of the Republic said in a statement.
"The president of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, the minister of National Defense, chaired on Friday 26 August 2022, with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, a meeting of the heads of security services of both countries," the statement said.
In addition to the president of the Republic, the Algerian side was represented at the meeting by General Saïd Chanegriha, the chief of Staff of the People's National Army, the general manager of the Fight Against Subversion, the director general of Internal Security and the director general of Documentation and External Security.
 
In addition to President Emmanuel Macron, the French side was represented by the minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Le Cornu, the chief of the French Army Staff, General Thierry Burkhard, and the director general of Exterior Security, according to the statement.
In this coordination meeting, "the first of its kind at such a level since independence, the two sides exchanged views on security issues of common interest for the two countries," the statement said.
 
"It confirms the will of the leaders of the two countries to develop the bilateral relations in various fields and raise them to the expected level."
 
 
General Saïd Chanegriha receives minister of French Armed Forces
 
ALGIERS- General Saïd Chanegriha, the chief of Staff of the People's National Army, received in audience Friday, in Algiers, the minister of the French Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, accompanied by General Thierry Burkhard, the chief of French Army Staff, on the sidelines of French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Algeria, the ministry of National Defense said in a statement.
The welcome ceremony, held at the headquarters of the General Staff of the People's National Army started by a salute to the national flag and military honours to the guest.
The meeting was attended by the secretary general of the ministry of National Defense, the commanders of Army Forces and National Gendarmerie, the general officers of the ministry of National Defense and the General Staff of the People's National Army, in addition to the members of the French military delegation, the statement said.
Welcoming the French delegation, General Saïd Chanegriha said in the meeting that the visit "is a milestone in the process of mutual understanding between the two sides," in line with "the political will of the leaders of the two nations."
Algeria, France agree on founding exceptional partnership based on respect, trust, balance of interests
 
ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune said Thursday in Algiers he agreed with French President Emmanuel Macron, who is on an official visit to Algeria, to establish a new direction for the strengthening of bilateral relations, based on a new comprehensive exceptional partnership abiding by the principles of mutual respect and trust and the balance of interests between the two States.
In a joint press declaration, following a meeting with his French counterpart, President Tebboune said: "we discussed together all aspects of bilateral cooperation and the means to enhance it to serve the common interests of our two countries and give a qualitative leap to our relations, in all fields, in line with the new direction we agreed upon.
The new direction is based on "the establishment of a comprehensive exceptional partnership, in accordance with the principles of mutual respect and trust and the balance of interests between the two States," President Tebboune said in a joint press declaration.
President Tebboune expressed his wish that the French president's visit to Algeria may "offer promising prospects for enhancing the exceptional partnership" between the two countries.
He added that the fruitful, "honest" discussions with his French counterpart, showed "the particularity, the depth and diversity of relations between our two countries, in all fields, from the common history and memory to dialogue and coordination in regional and international issues of common interest."
 
Bilateral meetings between Algerian ministers, French counterparts
ALGIERS- Bilateral meetings were held Thursday evening, at the presidency of the Republic in Algiers, between many Algerian ministers and their French counterparts, on the sidelines of the official visit of President Emmanuel Macron of France to Algeria.
 
The minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, met with his French counterpart, Catherine Colona, the minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning, Kamel Beldjoud, met with his counterpart Gerard Darmanin.
In addition, the minister of Finance, Ibrahim Djamel Kessali, the minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, and the minister of Industry, Ahmed Zerghdar, met with the minister of Finance and Economy, Bruno Le Maire, in the presence of the chief executive officer of Sonatrach, Tewfik Hakkar.
The minister of Youth and Sports, Abderrezak Sebgag, met with his counterpart Emilie Castra and the minister of Culture, Soraya Mouloudji, with her counterpart Ryma Abdelmalek.
Earlier, the president of the Republic had one-on-one discussions with his French counterpart, a meeting that later expanded to the members of the delegations of the two countries.
 
Algeria-France: Stepping up bilateral cooperation in several fields
ALGIERS- President Emmanuel Macron of France, on an official visit to Algeria, has stressed the opportunity of the two countries to cooperate in several sectors, mainly the economic, the cultural and the scientific fields.
"We want to move forward in our industry, our research, our hydrocarbons and our rare metals and in innovation topics, about which we wish to get faster and stronger," Macron said in a joint press declaration with President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, following their discussions.
He also insisted on two cooperation sectors between the two countries, namely the digital field and movie creation, in which "many dual nationals are talented."
 
Macron expressed his country's willingness to develop with Algeria a start-up incubator project, involving "support in the private sector connected with other incubators."
 
This new partnership, the French president added, should integrate cooperation projects in the academic and scientific fields.
He also mentioned a future cooperation between Pasteur Institute Algeria and the French Centre of Scientific Research (CNRS), describing it as "essential in the face of the challenges of tomorrow," in terms of both pandemics and climate challenge.
 
Algeria-France: Common desire to enhance exceptional partnership
ALGIERS- Algeria and France agreed Thursday, on the occasion of French President Emmanuel Macron's official visit to Algeria, on the need to boost bilateral cooperation and strengthen partnership between the two countries in the economic, cultural and scientific fields, in line with the principles of mutual respect and trust and the balance of interests.
President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, following discussions with his French counterpart, said the two leaders "tackled all aspects of bilateral cooperation and the means to enhance it to serve the common interests of our two countries and give a qualitative leap to our relations, in all fields, in line with the new direction we agreed upon.
A direction based on "the establishment of a comprehensive exceptional partnership, in accordance with the principles of mutual respect and trust and the balance of interests between the two countries," President Tebboune said in a joint press declaration.
The two sides, he said, renewed "their determination to go forward and intensify their efforts to boost bilateral relations following well-studied practical steps and a specific timetable for the activation of cooperation mechanisms and the strengthening of positive dynamics ahead of the next bilateral meetings."

Macron visits Great Mosque of Algiers
 
ALGIERS-French President Emmanuel Macron visited the Great Mosque of Algiers (Djamaa El-Djazair) in El Mohammadia on Friday afternoon.
During his visit, Macron and his delegation were accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra, Minister of Housing, National Planning and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, Minister of Religious Affairs and Wakfs Youcef Belmehdi, and rector of the Great Mosque of Algiers (Djamaa El-Djazair), with the rank of minister, Cheikh Mohamed Maamoun Al Kacimi Al Hoceini.
The French President contemplated this religious, cultural and scientific building, by listening to the explanations provided by this mosque’s managers, which is considered the largest mosque in Africa and the third largest in the world, after the Al-Haram mosque in Mecca and the Al-Nabawi Mosque in Medina.
 
At the end of this visit, symbolic gifts were given to the French Head of State and his delegation.
 
Macron returns to Algiers after brief visit to Oran
ALGIERS-French President Emmanuel Macon returned to Algiers on Saturday afternoon from Oran, on the third and last day of his official visit to Algeria, which began on Thursday led by a delegation.
In the morning, the French President, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra, and local authorities, went to the Basilica of Santa Cruz, to the “Disco Maghreb” store, in the city center of the capital of western Algeria, before meeting the Oran sports elite at the Palais des sports Hamou-Boutelelis in M'dina Djedida.
President Macron was welcomed in the city of Oran by a crowd chanting “One two three, Viva l’Algerie.”
 
President Tebboune meets with French counterpart
ALGIERS-President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, met one-on-one with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, on Saturday afternoon in the Hall of Honor at Houari-Boumediene International Airport.
The French President had returned shortly before to Algiers from Oran, on the third and last day of his official visit to Algeria, which began Thursday at the head of a delegation.
 
Presidents Tebboune, Macron chair signing ceremony of 5 bilateral cooperation agreements
ALGIERS-President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired on Saturday afternoon, with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, the signing ceremony of five cooperation agreements and partnership between the two countries in various fields.
The President of the Republic and his French counterpart signed, during this ceremony which took place in the Hall of Honor at Houari-Boumediene International Airport, the Algiers Declaration for a renewed partnership between Algeria and France.
 
The agreements signed between the two countries relate to the fields of health, higher education and scientific research and sport.
Thus, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Pasteur Institute of Algiers and the Pasteur Institute of Paris.
In addition, a scientific cooperation agreement was signed between the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, General Directorate of Scientific Research and Technological Development, represented by Mohamed Bouhicha, Director General of Scientific Research and Technological Development and the French National Center for Scientific Research represented by its Chief Executive Officer Antoine Petit.
 
President Tebboune: Issue of memory will be addressed "from historical perspective, not political one”
ALGIERS-President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune said, on Saturday in Algiers, that the commission of historians, which will be set up in the coming days between Algeria and France, will have to deal with the issue linked to memory “from a historical perspective, not a political one.”
“We agreed on the installation of a depoliticized commission of historians. I think that it could be installed in the next fifteen or twenty days. It will deal with the issue of memory under a historical perspective, and not of politics,” said the President of the Republic in a joint press briefing with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, at the end of the signing ceremony of “the Algiers’ Declaration for a renewed partnership,” and five other bilateral cooperation agreements in various fields.
Regarding the time allocated to the specialists to carry out their work, President Tebboune said that he had discussed with his French counterpart “a period of one year or less, if the work is finalized before.”
“But if they (the specialists) take even longer, it would be much better because good things take time,” he added.
 
President Tebboune: Algeria "always defends Africa’s interests"
 
ALGIERS-President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune said, on Saturday, that Algeria is one of the leading powers in Africa, always defending the continent’s interest.
 
“With the French President, we agreed on the future which concerns the two countries. We will act together in many areas outside Algeria and France, in Africa’s interest which we defend always,” said President Tebboune in a joint press briefing with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, at the end of the signing ceremony of “the Algiers’ Declaration for a renewed partnership” among the five bilateral cooperation agreements in various fields.
While underlining that France “is also quite close to Africa,” the President of the Republic said that the connection between Algeria and France, strengthened by the French President’s visit, will allow the two countries to "to go very far."
“This is the first time since independence that a meeting was held in the presence of the two Presidents of the Republic and the relevant security services of the two countries, including the Army, of both sides, which promises a joint action in the interest of our geopolitical environment," he said.
President Tebboune described this three-day visit as “excellent and necessary,” because it allowed to “put many things in their place and achieve a reconciliation which would not have been possible if it were not for the very personality of President Macron.”
 
President Tebboune chairs Sunday Council of ministers meeting
ALGIERS- President of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of the National Defense Abdelmadjid Tebboune will chair on Sunday a meeting of the Council of Ministers devoted to presentations relating several sectors, the Presidency of the Republic said on Saturday in a statement.
 “President of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of the National Defence Abdelmadjid Tebboune will chair on Sunday a meeting of the Council of Ministers devoted to preparations for
the 2022-2023 school year start, the recent forest fires and the measures taken to deal with them, the combine harvest-threshing campaign, as well as the bill of organic law on information, and other bills related, audiovisual activity and unity, in consolidation of national unity,” the source said.
 
Algeria-France: Algiers Declaration lays foundations for new cooperation
 
ALGIERS - The Algiers Declaration for a renewed partnership between Algeria and France, signed Saturday in Algiers, lays the foundations for a new bilateral cooperation, said French President Emmanuel Macron, stressing the need for a mobilization, on both sides, to "put words into action."
The French President said that the "Algiers Declaration lays the foundation for a new cooperation" on several issues, including that of memory which it was decided, "for the first time in our history to mandate together historians to work without taboos.
It was also decided, according to him, to build this new partnership for youth in several areas, including economic, technological, innovation, energy, culture, sport and many others, says President Macron, adding that "the aims is to allow actors in these sectors to work together.
Welcoming the "strong and moving" moments of his visit to Algeria, which allowed, he said, "to build the foundations of what is to come," he announced the "joint decision to complete the existing arrangements between the two countries, by a High Council, which we will hold, both, to monitor the relationship and its evolution.
