Extended meeting between President Tebboune, President of European CouncilALGIERS- President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, held on Monday in Algiers, extended meeting with President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the delegation accompanying him in his visit to Algeria.
The meetings took place at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, Chief of Staff at the Presidency of the Republic, Abdelaziz Khellaf, Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, and Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig.
Earlier, an official reception was granted by President Tebboune to the President of the European Council before starting bilateral discussions at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic.
Charles Michel arrived shortly before in Algiers where he was received at the international airport Houari Boumediene by Prime Minister, Aïmene Benabderrahmane.
Algeria, reliable energy partner
ALGIERS- President of the European Council, Charles Michel, said Monday that Algeria was a reliable energy, while stressing the need to revise the energy, while stressing the need to revise the Association Agreement between Algeria and the European Union (EU) by identifying joint priorities in the interest of both parties.
The President of the European Council said he had an " extremely fruitful, forward-looking" meeting with President Tebboune, adding that the two parties "share a common ambition to give new impetus to the quality of relations between Algeria and the EU."
The European official also stressed that Algeria and the EU have "a common ambition for stability, security and prosperity."
As such, he said he discussed with President Tebboune "a number of situations related to the neighborhood and the geopolitical context.
Michel also said he was "extremely optimistic" to develop "more strongly and more decisively, a partnership that leads to concrete and tangible results for Algeria's citizens" and the European Union.
