ALGIERS- Algeria-European Union Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) commended Algeria's "effective contribution" to the restoration of peace, security and
Stability in the region, said a joint statement released at the end of the works of the committee's first session, held Monday in Algiers.
The Algeria-European Union Joint Parliamentary Committee "welcomes Algeria's effective contribution to the restoration of peace, security and stability in the region, mainly in the Sahel, as well as its action within the African Union."
The joint statement underlined that the holding of the first formal meeting shows the "quality of relations" between the Algerian Parliament and the European Parliament," expressing the "desire to boost bilateral dialogue."
The Committee stressed the urgent need to "find solutions to the common challenges faced by the European Union and Algeria, such as security challenges in the Euro-Mediterranean area and the fight against violent extremism, terrorism and international organized, mainly through the strengthening of cooperation for the settlement of conflicts and crises in the region, to enhance regional stability," the Joint statement said.
The JPC noted with satisfaction "Algeria's long-standing commitment for inter-African cooperation and economic integrity in Africa," to "promoting triangular cooperation opportunities between Algeria, the European Union and African partners."
