Lamamra holds talks with Chinese counterpart
NEW YORK-Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra held on Saturday talks with Chinese Foreign Minister, State Councilor Wang Yi, within the framework of his activity under the high-level segment of the UN General Assembly.
On this occasion, the two ministers reviewed the state of friendship and partnership relations between the two countries, whose sixtieth anniversary will be celebrated this year by the two parties.
They also exchanged views on the worrying situation the world is going through, in light of the Ukrainian crisis and international relations’ tensions.
In this regard, the two officials reaffirmed “their determination to intensify cooperation within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative for the realization of major national projects initiated by President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune and which are likely to boost the national economy, while pursuing the diplomatic action, in accordance with the principle of mutual assistance and mutual support, particularly when it comes to fundamental issues and interests for each of the two countries.”

China welcomes Algeria's membership in BRICS family
NEW YORK (United Nations)-China welcomes Algeria's membership in the BRICS family, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Saturday in New York, stressing that Algeria is a "great developing country" and a "representative of emerging economies.”
"China supports Algeria in its role as rotating president of the Arab League and in the successful holding of the Arab Summit. It also welcomes its membership in the BRICS family," said Wang, quoted Sunday by the New China Agency, after he met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly (GA).
BRICS is the acronym for the bloc of emerging markets comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Its presidency is held this year by Beijing.
Yi said that his country was "willing to work with Algeria to play a constructive role in achieving world peace and development.”
