President Tebboune receives phone call from French counterpart
 
ALGIERS-President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune received a phone call from his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron during which the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and expressed their satisfaction at the positive evolution and level of these relations, the presidency of the Republic said in a statement.
 
“President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune received today a phone call from his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron during which the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and expressed their satisfaction at the positive evolution and level of these relations,” said the statement.
 
The two presidents also discussed “the important meeting of the 5th Algerian-French High-Level Intergovernmental Committee which is being held in Algiers, as well as the developments of the situation in the region,” concluded the source.
Algeria-France: 5th high-level Intergovernmental Committee meeting opens in Algiers
ALGIERS- The works of the 5th Algerian-French High-Level Intergovernmental Committee opened Sunday in Algiers under the co-chairmanship of Prime Minister Aymen Benabderrahmane, and his French counterpart, Elisabeth Borne.
In an opening address at the meeting held in Abdellatif Rahal international convention centre in Algiers, the prime minister said he was convinced about the exceptional potential of Algeria and France in various fields, inviting companies in the two countries to focus on the aspects relating to the transfer of expertise, know-how and training.
He also emphasized Algeria's efforts to create the necessary conditions and the appropriate environment to establish a modern and competitive, productive and industrial base, through the improvement of the business climate and the promotion of domestic products.
The bilateral consultation mechanism, set up after the signing in December 2013, in Algiers, of the convention on the creation of the Algerian-French High-Level Intergovernmental Committee, has been marked by regular exchange of visits between the two countries and the common desire to build a strong and diversified cooperation and exceptional partnership.
French Prime Minister lays wreath at Martyrs' Memorial in Algiers
ALGIERS- French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne on Sunday laid a wreath at the commemorative stele of the Martyrs' Memorial in Algiers, observing a minute of silence in memory of the National Liberation War.
Earlier on Sunday afternoon, Borne started a visit to Algeria leading a large delegation.
She was welcomed upon her arrival at Houari-Boumediene international airport of Algiers by Prime Minister Aymen Benabderrahmane, along with the minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, and members of the government.
 
Algeria-France: Benabderrahmane highlights importance of giving strong boost to bilateral relations
ALGIERS- Prime Minister Aymen Benabderrahmane said Sunday in Algiers that the 5th Algerian-French High-Level Intergovernmental Committee was an opportunity to give a strong boost to relations between the two countries with a reassessment and deepening of partnerships, mainly in the economic field.
In an address at the opening of the 5th session of the Algerian-French High-Level Intergovernmental Committee, at Abdellatif Rehal International Conference Centre, the prime minister said he was "fully convinced that the two countries have exceptional potentials of partnership in many fields, some of which are still under-exploited and others not yet explored."
Significant progress has been made in developing and strengthening the bilateral economic partnership following the creation of the Algerian-French Joint Economic Commission, whose 6th session was held in March 2020 in Algiers, Benabderrahmane said.
The Premier said he was satisfied with the results of the mechanism that has made it possible to "carry out several projects and create joint ventures in industry, transport, mining, agri-food, in addition to training programmes in these important areas.
Benabderrahmane stressed the need to "preserve, develop and extend this partnership in the service of the new momentum of bilateral relations, brought to fruition under the leadership of the leaders of the two countries."
Algeria-France: New momentum likely to develop consultation on several issues     
ALGIERS- Prime Minister Aymen Benabderrahmane on Sunday said the fresh impetus given to relations between Algeria and France will contribute to developing bilateral consultation on topical issues on which there is a convergence of views between Algiers and Paris."
The new momentum in our relations, inspired by the Declaration of Algiers, will allow us to develop consultation on topical issues, both regional and international," on which there is a convergence of views between Algiers and Paris, Benabderrahmane said at the opening of the 5th session of the Algerian-French High-Level Intergovernmental Committee.
The session, held at Abdellatif Rahal International Conference Centre, was co-chaired by Prime Minister Aymen Benabderrahmane and his French counterpart, Elisabeth Borne.
With regard to the issues on which there is a convergence of views between Algeria and France, the Premier cited the Euro-Mediterranean dialogue, the Libyan crisis, the situation in the Sahel, counterterrorism and violent extremism.
Benabderrahmane said the 5th session of the Algerian-French High-Level Intergovernmental Committee was an opportunity for the two countries to "establish a roadmap and an agenda for the next common events by 2030, agreed upon by the leaders of the two countries, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Emmanuel Macron, as part of the Declaration of Algiers."
Lamamra holds talks with French counterpart
 
ALGIERS-The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra met Monday in Algiers with his French counterpart Catherine Colonna, which is on a visit to Algeria as part of the 5th session of the Algeria-France High-Level Intergovernmental Committee (CIHN), said the ministry in a statement.
The two FMs, who subsequently co-chaired a working session extended to members of both delegations, "welcomed the success of the 5th CIHN, which culminated in the signing of 11 cooperation agreements covering several areas.”
"They agreed to intensify their political dialogue and continue their efforts under the sustained progress that marks the Algeria-France relations for a diligent implementation of the Algiers Statement for the renewed Partnership between Algeria and France, signed by the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron. The document aims to raise the relationship between the two countries to the level of the exceptional partnership they have decided to establish,” said the source.
The meeting also allowed the FMs to "review a wide range of current issues at regional and international levels and various aspects of the Euro-Mediterranean partnership and relations between Algeria and the European Union (EU)," said the same source.
At the end of the meeting, Lamamra told the press that he appointed the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad as "permanent coordinator of the Algeria-France relationship and all aspects relating to cooperation, under agreements sealed upon instructions from Presidents Tebboune and Macron.”
"We hope to move forward to new promising horizons in the renewed partnership between Algeria and France,” he continued.
"We can say that we are on the right track and that the Algeria-France relations will experience a positive development soon," promised.
For her part, Colonna welcomed the quality of "productive, cordial, and friendly" talks with Lamamra.
Moreover, France’s FM appointed the Secretary General of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs to ensure, alongside the two ministers, the proper implementation of agreements signed between Algiers and Paris, "but also the preparation of all other (agreements) to come.”
Algeria-France cooperation “essential”, assures Borne
 
ALGIERS-France’s Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne assured Monday in Algiers that cooperation between Algeria and France is "essential", stressing that the two countries have "advanced" in their project to establish a "renewed partnership.”
"I told President Tebboune that he can count on the mobilization and determination of my government. Our cooperation is essential. We will put it at the service of our two countries," she said after the audience granted to her by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
She referred to "the quality" of the reception reserved to her by President Tebboune and the Algerian government and "the richness" of the exchanges, "proving our determination to act and establish together a renewed partnership.
Borne also said that the 5th meeting of the High-Level Intergovernmental Committee (CIHN), held Sunday in Algiers, was an opportunity "to initiate a new stage in our work ... marked by regular exchanges of visits at the business, political and technical levels.
"I feel that together we have moved forward and that the CIHN has allowed us to lay the foundations of a renewed long-term partnership that will benefit our youth," she said
I hope the Algiers Statement (signed in late August by Presidents Tebboune and Macron) "is embodied in acts and a lasting commitment and beneficial to our two countries and our two peoples,” stated the French PM.
France’s PM given official welcome by President Tebboune
 
ALGIERS-President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune gave Monday an official welcome to France’s Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic.
After she saluted the Republic Guard which paid her the honors, Borne welcomed the members of the Algerian delegation composed of the Prime Minister, Aimene Benabderrahmane, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community, Ramtane Lamamra, the Chief of Staff at the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Khellaf, the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning, Brahim Merad, the Minister of Justice, Abderrachid Tabi and Algeria’s Ambassador to Paris, Saïd Moussi.
For his part, the President of the Republic welcomed the members of the delegation accompanying the French PM composed of the Minister of the Interior and Overseas Territories, Gérald Darmanin, the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna and Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond Moretti.
President Tebboune granted an audience to France’s PM, in the presence of the delegations from both countries.
 
French companies ready to contribute to diversification of Algerian economy
ALGIERS-France’s Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne said Monday in Algiers that French companies were ready to contribute to the diversification of the Algerian economy, assuring that cooperation between Algerian and French companies can be “very successful.”
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Algeria-France Economic Forum, which she co-chaired with the Prime Minister, Aimene Benabderrhamane, Borne said that with the will of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and that of the Prime Minister "I know that Algeria is committed to an ambitious diversification of its economy.
In this sense, she that "French companies are ready to participate in this move,” recalling that "the Algiers Statement" lists sectors of the future, "and we must seize this opportunity.”
"I am convinced that we will be stronger together. The conviction that cooperation between Algerian and French companies can be the source of great success," she said.
She called this forum as a "strong symbol" in which each sector represented by entrepreneurs from both sides embodies a facet of cooperation between the two countries and each company "carries solutions for global challenges that we have to face.”
Addressing businessmen from both countries, Borne said that each of them has a "decisive role" and "boosts the relationship between France and Algeria.”
The French PM recalled that the meeting between President Tebboune and his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, on the occasion of the friendship visit to Algiers by the latter in August marked "a decisive step" in bilateral ties.
The two heads of state had laid "the foundations of a renewed relationship", what they called "a pact for the future for our countries, our peoples and our youth", she said.
This ambition has been enshrined in an "ambitious document, namely the Algiers Statement,” which binds us and commits us to move forward in many areas such as energy transition, digital, health, agri-food, and industry.
Borne said that "France has always been a major partner of Algeria, the second in terms of trade, with a volume of trade that continues to increase, and especially the first investor outside hydrocarbons in Algeria.”
Stressing that Algeria, with the new law on investment, "takes the path of attractiveness", the French PM called for "multiplying the bridges between our youth and set up educational, cultural and entrepreneurial cooperation that will allow them to talk, understand each other and move in the same direction.
 
 
5th Algerian-French High-Level Committee: Encouraging partnerships, productive investments
ALGIERS- Prime Minister Aymen Benabderrahmane said Thursday in Algiers that the meeting of the Algerian-French High-Level Intergovernmental Committee was an opportunity to highlight the importance of encouraging partners and productive investments, underlining the "exceptional role" of bilateral relations, especially last Augusts' visit by French President Emmanuel Macron to Algeria on the invitation of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
In a joint statement with his French counterpart Elisabeth Borne, at the end of the 5th Algerian-French High-Level Intergovernmental Committee, Benabderrahmane said the session was an opportunity for the two sides to stress the importance of encouraging partners and productive investments and creators of wealth and jobs, mainly under the new investment legal framework in Algeria.
He added that it was "essential not to be satisfied with commercial exchanges, adding that trade alone would not  allow us to reach the promising future the leaders of the two countries traced for Algerian-French relations."
The meeting was meant to "give a concrete expression to the commitments of the two countries during the French president's last visit to Algeria," Benabderrahmane said.
It "also shows the desire of Algeria and France to give a fresh impetus to bilateral relations, through new work rules that will allow us to make progress as part of a mutually beneficial strategic partnership."
The premier pointed out that he discussed with his French counterpart "all areas and designated the focal points at the level of ministries, to follow up on the conclusions of the meeting."
The meeting, which brought together 15 ministers of the two countries, was also an occasion to discuss "the exceptional potential of both countries and the many opportunities that are yet to be exploited."
 
 
 
 
 
Algeria-France: Borne reiterates determination to build renewed relationship
ALGIERS- French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne expressed Sunday, in Algiers, her determination to build a renewed relationship between Algeria and France, calling the 5th session of the Algerian-French High-Level Intergovernmental Committee a "strong signal" and a "step in the establishment of a closer cooperation between the two countries."
"The fifth session of the Algerian-French High-Level Intergovernmental Committee, being held in Algiers a few weeks after the meeting between the two leaders, is a strong signal. It shows our determination to build a new relationship between our two countries," Borne said at a press briefing following the committee meeting she co-chaired with Prime Minister Aymen Benabbderrahamne.
She added that the meeting was a "step in the establishment of a closer cooperation between France and Algeria," adding that her visit to Algeria "gives a fresh impetus and a sustainable cycle that will be beneficial to our two peoples and our youths."
"The atmosphere of trust and brotherhood" marking the fifth session of the Algerian-French High-Level Intergovernmental Committee is "just like the commitment to establishing a renewed relationship between the two countries, following the historic meeting between the leaders of the both countries last August," Borne said.
The French Prime Minister described the meeting as an "unprecedented opportunity to give a concrete expression to the vision of our leaders."  
The visit by 15 members of the (French) government, according to Borne, "shows our common desire to implement this sustainable commitment that will primarily benefit the citizens of the two countries."
 
Algeria, France sign joint statement, several agreements in various fields
 
ALGIERS- A joint statement was signed between Algeria and France Sunday evening, in Algiers, at the end of the 5th high-level Intergovernmental Committee meeting, in addition to agreements and letters of intent, during a ceremony co-chaired by the prime ministers of the two countries, Aymen Benabderrahmane and Elisabeth Borne.
 
A report on the restitution of 51 ancient coins was also signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, and French minister for Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, Bruno Le Maire, before Borne handed over the ancient coins to Benabderrahamane.
In addition, a statement of intent in the field of tourism and a letter of intent in the field of knowledge economy, innovation and entrepreneurship were signed by Minister of Tourism and Crafts Industry Yacine Hamadi and his counterpart Olivia Grégoire as well as an MoU between Algeria Venture and the French Development Agency, signed by the minister of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-Enterprises, Yacine El Mahdi Oualid and the minister of Small and Medium Enterprises, Trade, Crafts and Tourism, Olivia Grégoire.
A statement of intent on Labor and Employment was signed by the minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Youcef Chorfa, and the French minister of Labour, Employment and Integration Olivier Dussopt.
A cooperation agreement in agriculture, rural development and the agri-food industry was signed by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohamed Abdelhafid Henni and French Minister of Agriculture and Food, Marc Fesneau.
A statement of intent on industrial and technological cooperation was signed by Minister of Industry Ahmed Zaghdar and French Minister for the Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty Bruno Le Maire, and a letter of intent on cooperation in the area of equal opportunities was signed by the minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra, and the French minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colona.
The two ministers of also signed a letter of intent on strengthening exchanges in the sectors of protection and promotion of disabled people, and a statement of intent relating to a framework convention relating to the Mixed Network of Schools (RME schools).
In addition, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Kamel Baddari and Minister of Higher Education and Research Sylvie Retailleau signed a statement of intent relating to Institutes of Applied Sciences and Technology (ISTA).
 
 
 
 
Algerian-French Economic Forum begins in Algiers
ALGIERS-The Algerian-French Economic Forum opened Monday in Algiers, co-chaired by Prime Minister Aimene Benabderrahmane and his French counterpart Elisabeth Borne, and attended by many businessmen, operators and investors from two countries.
 
This two-day business meeting, themed “for a renewed economic partnership,” is jointly organized by the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI) and the Algerian-French Chamber of Commerce (CCIAF).
 
It will focus mainly on investment opportunities in Algeria, as a result of the new investment law, the implementing texts of which have just entered into force.
 
 
 
 
President Tebboune receives French PM
ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune received Monday, in Algiers, French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, who has been since Sunday on a visit to Algeria.
The audience took place at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic in the presence of Prime Minister Aimene Benabderrahmane, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra, Chief of staff at the Presidency of the Republic Abdelaziz Khellaf, Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning Brahim Merad, and the minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, Abderrachid Tabbi.
In addition to Borne, the French delegation attending the audience was made up of Minister of Interior Gerald Darmanin, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colona and Minister of Justice Eric Dupont-Moretti.
