Algeria firmly condemns use of lethal force against demonstrators in Chad

 
ALGIERS- Algeria has firmly condemned the use on Thursday of lethal force against demonstrators in the Republic of Chad, leaving several deaths and serious injuries among the demonstrators through several cities of the country.
“Algeria, which follows with intense emotion the developments that occurred today 20 October in the Republic of Chad, firmly condemns the use of lethal force against demonstrators, leaving several deaths and serious injuries among demonstrators through several cities of the country,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad said in a statement.
“Algeria calls on the Chad parties to show restraint, to protect the human lives and property and enforce dialogue for a political solution to the current crisis. It encourages Chad’s leaders to promote a consensual transition for an effective and lasting restoration of constitutional order, the only way to achieve the people’s legitimate aspirations and avoid the risks of current situation on peace and stability in this country with which Algeria has solidarity and cooperation fraternal relations,” said the source.
“In this painful circumstance, Algeria extends heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families, wishing speedy recovery for the injured,” according to the source.
