Mediterranean, Maghreb energy associations sign “Algiers Protocol”
ALGIERS- Four Mediterranean and Maghreb energy associations, of which Sonelgaz group is a member, signed Tuesday, in Algiers, the “Protocol of Algiers” to strengthen cooperation and regional energy integration.
The Protocol was signed by the Maghreb Electricity Committee (COMELEC), the Mediterranean Energy Observatory (OME), the Association of the Mediterranean Transmission System Operators for Electricity (Med-TSO) and the Mediterranean Association of National Energy Management Agency (MEDENER ).
This Protocol was signed during the works of the joint conference entitled “Electrical interconnects in the Mediterranean, factor of regional integration and catalyst of the energy transition.”
The inking ceremony was marked by the presence of Minister of Energy and Mines Mohamed Arkab, Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning Brahim Merad, Minister of Industry Ahmed Zeghdar, Minister of Environment and Renewable Energy Samia Moualfi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Kamel Baddari, CEO of Sonelgaz Mourad Adjel as well as secretaries general of regional cooperation energy bodies, signatories of Algiers Protocol.
The Protocol of Algiers was signed by the Secretaries General of Med-TSO Angelo Ferrante, COMELEC Khaled Nouasri, OME Nour Elhouda Allal and of MEDENER Roberta Boniotti.
Sonelgaz is the founding member of COMELEC, Med-TSO and of OME. It chairs the first two organizations and co-chairs the third.
