Launch of Digital Government Portal, “milestone” in modernization of administration

ALGIERS-Prime Minister Aimene Benabderrahmane affirmed Wednesday, in Algiers, that the launch of the Digital Government Portal of public services was “a milestone in the revival of the process of digitization and modernization of public administration and its alignment with the citizens.”

During the official launch of the digital government portal of public services at “Abdellatif Rahal” International Conference Centre (CIC), Benabderrahmane said that the launch of this digital government portal of public services was “a milestone in the process of digitization and modernization of the public administration and its alignment with the private sector.”

“The launch of this governmental digital portal of public services is part of the national strategy of the digital transition that will allow our country to achieve and strengthen digital sovereignty in light of technological challenges and risks of cyber-attacks growing, including that our country is not immune to these risks,” said the PM.

“The portal is a very important step towards the realization of President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune program, who promised, in his 25th commitment, the realization of the digital transition, the generalization of the use of ICTs, particularly in the administrations and public structures and the improvement of the governance of the economic domain,” he added.

He stressed that the Government had devoted this commitment in its action plan to the component relating to the modernization of the public administration and bringing the administration closer to the citizens through access to quality public services accessible to all.

On this occasion, Benabderrahmane said that Algeria's strategy in the field of digital transition “is based essentially on the development of telecommunications infrastructure, which is based on an anticipatory approach through the launch of major investments and quality, particularly in terms of connection to the international internet network and the increase in capacity in terms of connection to the fixed and mobile internet network, while increasing the speed.”

The government portal contains more than 300 digitized public services from 29 ministerial departments, thus offering citizens the opportunity to access, in real-time 24/7, all the digitized public services provided by the various administrations, and to consult the information relating to the various administrative measures, without having to move, added Benabderrahmane.

“A significant importance has been attached to this project by the country's high authorities, due to its vital role in promoting unified access to digital services, which spares the citizen the constraint of searching for digital public services and wasting time by consulting several official sites or sectoral portals, given their multiplicity,” said the PM.

“E-governance is now an essential factor in anchoring the principles of good governance and the foundations of the rule of law, through the simplification of administrative measures and guaranteeing quality public services to the citizen,” he stressed.
