ORAN- Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra held on Friday, in Oran, talks with Kenya’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Alfred Mutua.
In a statement to the press at the end of the meeting, Kenyan Foreign minister, who participated in the 9th High-Level Conference on Peace and Security in Africa, wrapped up Thursday in Oran, said that the discussions focused on peace and security in Africa, the challenges facing the continent, the role of the African Union in establishing peace and the issue of sanctions imposed on some African countries.
Mutua said that the relations between Kenya and Algeria are “one of the best,” especially as Kenya wishes to import oil and gas products from Algeria and also aspires to attract the Algerian economic operators to invest in his country.
He also said that Kenya has several products that could be exported to Algeria, such as red meat, milk, coffee and tea.
He added that the talks enabled the two sides to discuss the issue of his country’s students who are studying in Algeria, pointing out that Algeria, considered as a pioneering country in several specialties at the African level, receives hundreds of Kenyan students.
The Kenyan diplomat pointed out the ongoing efforts aimed to establish a training system enabling the Algerian and Kenyan diplomats to study together for a diplomacy based on peace and friendship, adding that it could develop the economic and commercial exchanges between the two countries.
