Cavusoglu underlines Turkey’s determination to boost cooperation with Algeria

 
ALGIERS-Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu highlighted on Sunday his country's determination to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Algeria, especially on issues related to the establishment of peace and stability, stressing the positive contributions of Algeria to this process.
In a statement at the end of the audience granted to him by the President of the Republic,  Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Turkish FM said that the meeting focused on regional issues, including the situation in Libya.
"We are determined to boost our cooperation and bring our bilateral relations to higher levels, especially about the establishment of peace and stability in the region," he said.
Cavusoglu, who said he listened to the opinions of President Tebboune on the Libyan issues, highlighted "the positive contributions of Algeria to various regional issues.”
The Turkish FM also said he conveyed to President Tebboune the warm greetings of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as well as his congratulations on the success of the Arab Summit hosted by Algeria in early November.
He also welcomed the efforts made by Algeria in favor of the Palestinian cause, stressing the convergence of views between Turkey and Algeria on this issue.
The two sides also discussed the first meeting of the Planning, Cooperation and Comprehensive Partnership Committee between Algeria and Turkey, held Saturday, he stated.
The President of the Republic sent an invitation to his Turkish counterpart to pay an official visit to Algeria, according to Cavusoglu.
The audience took place at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, and the Chief of Staff at the Presidency of the Republic, Abdelaziz Khellaf.
 
Algeria-Turkey: 1st meeting of Planning, Cooperation and Global Partnership Committee was "exceptional”
ALGIERS-The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra said Saturday in Algiers that the first meeting of the Planning, Cooperation and Global Partnership Committee between Algeria and Turkey was "exceptional" because "it has set a new milestone in the foundation of this strategic, sustainable and complementary partnership.
”Speaking at a press conference following a meeting that brought together officials from all sectors, the minister said that trade between our two countries augurs "a promising future for the partnership between our two countries," stressing that the "pace achieved, which must be accelerated is one of the indicators to exploit to achieve the common strategic objectives, whether trade, investment, transport, technology or cooperation in different areas.”
"The results of this first meeting have contributed to the improvement of the strategic relationship between the two countries in light of changes in the world and will allow us to fully accomplish our role after the pandemic Coronavirus," he continued.
Regarding bilateral coordination on international issues, "we have supported the compatibility of views between the two countries and conducted an exchange of analysis and consultations to deepen our position on all these issues.
Lamamra also stressed that the two sides discussed the recommendations of the Arab Summit in Algiers and agreed to continue consultation on issues of common interest.
Regarding the Libyan issue, the minister said the two countries agreed to "support the inter-Libyan solution and to convene transparent elections allowing the Libyan people to exercise their right to freely elect their leaders.”Referring to pluralist diplomacy, he stressed that Algeria and Turkey agreed to "support peace and solutions based on international law," noting the mutual support to their respective candidacies at the international level. 
"Algeria and Turkey share the same stances on international issues and the establishment of a new mode of cooperation between the countries of the South and the North, regardless of their economic situation," stated Lamamra.
For his part, Turkey’s FM, Mevlut Cavusoglu stressed that the meeting focused on the opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in several areas, including trade, agriculture, and industry, in addition to the sectors of fisheries, energy, education, and others.
As for trade between the two countries, the Turkish FM said "an increase by nearly 30% has been recorded in recent months compared to last year," predicting "to reach shortly the expected goal of a volume of trade between the two countries worth US$10 billion.
Cavusoglu highlighted "the important opportunities offered by Algeria in agriculture," saying "we live, no doubt, a very delicate situation at the international level in relation to food security, and therefore, he said, cooperation between the two countries will not only benefit the Algerian and Turkish people but all other peoples too.”
Referring to the industry, the minister recalled that 1,400 companies were operating in Algeria while Turkish investments in Algeria amount to US$5 billion.
In addition to the food crisis the world experiences, Cavusoglu said that "there is also an energy crisis, a field that Turkey and Algeria seek to develop.” After referring to the consular affairs, the Turkish official reported the appointment of a Turkish consul in Oran in early 2023.
 
 
1st Algeria-Turkey Committee on Comprehensive Planning, Cooperation meeting kicks off
 
ALGIERS- The works of the 1st Algeria-Turkey Committee on Comprehensive Planning, Cooperation and Partnership kicked off on Saturday, in Algiers, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra and his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Cavusoglu.
 
In his speech at the opening of the meeting’s works, Lamamra said that “this committee, which unique, stemming from the 1st meeting at the Summit level of the Algerian-Turkish High Level Cooperation Council on the occasion of the State visit of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Turkey in May 2022, decided by the two countries’ Presidents confirms that the Algerian-Turkish relations have become exceptional.”
 
Lamamra affirmed that the Algerian-Turkish strategy is a “real strategy, because it includes all areas of life and not only the economic aspects, but also the cultural, social, human, security and defense fields.
 
He welcomed the strong relations between the two countries, affirming that the first session of this mechanism for planning, evaluation and of follow-up of strategic partnership development between the two countries will be “unique.”
 
The Turkish minister underlined that “thanks to the political willingness of the two States’ Presidents, the works for the settlement of unresolved issues between the two countries were launched quickly, urging the representatives of the sectors participating in the committee to “take pragmatic decisions in order to reach a result.”
President Tebboune receives Turkey’s Foreign Minister
