Tabi calls, in Addis Ababa, for fair representation of all African territories in international system
ALGIERS- Minister of Justice Abderrachid Tabi called Sunday, during his participation in the 8th Specialized Technical Committee on justice and Legal Affairs of the African Union, (AU) in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), for the fair representation of all the African territories in the international system.
Speaking on this occasion, Tabi said that “AU’s ministerial Committee on the African candidacies in the international system must represent all the African territories equally and fairly,” the Ministry of Justice said in a statement.
As regards the protocol to the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights (ACHPR) on the specific aspects of the right to a nationality and the eradication of statelessness in Africa, the minister of Justice said that its provisions “haven’t yet reached gestation,” proposing to “submit them to specialized committees to be examined and to reach a greater convergence between the African States on underlying issues.”
Several themes are on the agenda of the 8th Specialized Technical Committee on justice and Legal Affairs of the African Union, including “the procedural rights of AU Ministerial Committee on the African candidacies in the international system, the statutes of the African Statistical Training Centre and the AU Institute for Statistics (STATFRIC), as well as the “protocol to the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights (ACHPR) on the specific aspects of the right to a nationality and the eradication of statelessness” in Africa, concluded the source.
