Pharmaceutical industry: Algeria meets over 70% of its needs
ALGIERS- The deputy chairman of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), Dr Prosper Hiag, on Friday commended Algeria for its coverage of more than 70% of its need in pharmaceutical industry products, as a result of the quality training in Algerian universities.
In an address at the sixth seminar of the Algerian Federation of Pharmacy, (December 21-23), Hiag, who represents African countries at the International Pharmaceutical Federation, called for the "unification of the educational programmes at the university and for meeting the challenge of ensuring a continental independence with quality medicine."
The speaker called for taking Algeria as a model "in terms of covering the needs" in pharmaceutical products.
The head of the Algerian Federation of Pharmacy, Pr Abdelhakim Boudis, said the 6th edition of the seminar shed light on the advances made in training in Africa, in cooperation with the Faculty of Pharmacy in Bordeaux, France, a partner of Algiers University's Faculty of Pharmacy.
The partnership is aimed at benefiting from the experience of developed nations and promoting the pharmacy curriculum as a "strong link" in the health system.
The pharmaceutical expert emphasized the role of pharmacists in teaching therapeutic education and the effect of precision medicine and digital technology in the production of drugs.
