2022, particular cultural dynamic

 
 
ALGIERS- The Algerian cultural scene has witnessed in 2022 the organization of a huge number of programmes related to literature, theatre, music, visual arts and cinema, held on the occasion of big historical, political and sporting events that were hosted by the country during this period.
The year 2022 was marked by the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the recovery of the national sovereignty and of the 68th anniversary of the outbreak of the National Liberation War, in addition to the holding of the 31st Arab Summit in Algiers and the 19th Mediterranean Games of Oran, major events that were accompanied by a particular cultural dynamic.
To celebrate the recovery of the national sovereignty, the Ministry of Culture and Arts elaborated a rich programme of shows and a big number of exhibitions and screenings related to history, in addition to subsidies for projects in theatre, literature, cinema and music.
On the occasion of this double historical celebration (outbreak of the Revolution and the Independence), three films on the paths of martyrs Zighoud Youcef, Si M'hamed Bouguerra and Si El Haoues, produced by the Ministry of Mujahedeen, were launched.
A rich programme accompanied the celebrations of the outbreak of the liberation war with theatrical, cinematographic and other events for more than two weeks.
The month of November, during which the 31st Arab Summit was held in Algiers, was also marked by the organization of the Arab Book Fair, the Arab Film Days at Algiers film theatre, and by big exhibitions on the Algerian intangible cultural heritage, Algeria in the pre-history and the works of Arab visual artists from the collection of the National Fine Arts Museum.
Oran, which hosted last June one of the most important sporting events (The Mediterranean Games), experienced an intense cultural dynamic with the holding of the Festivals of Rai and of Oran’s Music as well as the creation of the first Mediterranean Theatre Days.
