Several local power, gas projects to be delivered in 2023

ALGIERS- Minister of Energy and Mines Mohamed Arkab affirmed Thursday, in Algiers, that the year 2023 will be marked by the acceleration and delivery of a number of electricity and gas projects in several provinces, in addition to the removal of obstacles that hindered their execution recently.
The minister spoke in a plenary session at the People’s National Assembly, devoted to oral questions and chaired by the vice-speaker of the People’s National Assembly Abdellah Amari, in the presence of the Minister of Relations with the Parliament Basma Azouar.
In a reply to a question of deputy Ahcene Meftah (RND), concerning a project to connect the northern communes of Mila province to the gas network, Arkab said that the progress of the works of the aforementioned projects has reached around 88%, adding that the recorded delay was mainly due to a lack of 8-inch pipelines, the protest of some land owners and rough ground.
In this regard, he said that an agreement was concluded between his department and that of the Industry for the manufacturing of this type of pipelines, currently imported by Algeria, at the level of El Hadjar plant to supply this project and all the sector’s pending projects nationwide, which will enable speeding up the pace of the project of connecting the northern part of Mila to the gas network and resolving definitively this issue during the first quarter of 2023.”
The rate of connection to the electricity network in this province has reached 98.9% and to the gas network stands at 65.81%, said the minister.
