Italian President of Council of Ministers pays tribute to martyrs of Revolution
ALGIERS - President of the Italian Council of Ministers, Georgia Meloni, paid tribute on Sunday at the Martyrs' Memorial in Algiers to the memory of the martyrs of the glorious National Liberation Revolution.
In front of the commemorative stele, Meloni laid a wreath of flowers and observed a minute of silence in memory of the shuhada.
The President of the Italian Council of Ministers began a working and friendship visit to Algeria, at the head of a large ministerial delegation.
Upon her arrival at Houari-Boumediene International Airport, she was welcomed by Prime Minister, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, and members of the government. 
 
Algeria-Italy: New extremely important gas pipeline project to be implemented in short time
 
ALGIERS- The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune said Monday in Algiers that the new gas pipeline project between Algeria and Italy was of "extreme importance" and "will be completed in a short time" to allow Algeria to export electricity, ammonia and hydrogen in addition to gas.
Speaking at a press briefing with the President of the Italian Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, President Tebboune said that "the duration of this project is left to the estimation of technicians. However, I believe it will be short, especially since we have agreed on the pipeline project and signed an agreement on the launch of the study and then the implementation of this project.”
In addition to gas, the pipeline will transport electricity, hydrogen, and ammonia, President Tebboune reaffirmed "the extreme importance of this project that will make Italy a hub for the distribution of these energy products to Europe.”
The President of the Republic also welcomed the strategic cooperation between the two countries in the energy field, continued President Tebboune.
"Algeria is considered a major supplier and we want to move to a new stage with the Italians because Italy will be a hub for the distribution of energy (electricity, gas, ammonia and hydrogen) to Europe,” said the head of state.
For her part, Meloni stressed the importance of his working and friendship visit to Algeria on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Good Neighborliness between the two countries.
Italy seeks to "increase Algerian exports of gas to Italy and, therefore, Algeria to Europe,” she assured.
 
Algeria well placed to an become energy leader in Africa and the world
She said that Algeria and Italy were studying the implementation of a new pipeline project that would also transport hydrogen and electricity, stressing that her country seeks to diversify its partnership with Algeria, especially in the areas of digital infrastructure, communications, biomedicine, industry, and renewable energy.
In the context of the energy crisis in Europe, Algeria can "become a leader in Africa and the world, and Italy is the gateway for the supply of this energy to Europe.”
In response to a question about the new Algerian law on investment, the same official said that it will boost foreign and Italian investment in Algeria as "several Italian companies now want to implement projects in Algeria, an important country with a long history of investment.”
 
Algeria, Italy ink joint declaration, four MoUs    
ALGIERS-Algeria and Italy signed Monday in Algiers, a joint declaration and four (4) memorandums of understanding in several sectors under the working and friendship visit of the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy, Georgia Meloni to Algeria.
The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy, Georgia Meloni signed a joint declaration on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness, and Cooperation.
President Tebboune and Meloni also supervised the signing of two memorandums of understanding between Sonatrach Group and the Italian group ENI, the first on the improvement of energy connection networks between Algeria and Italy, and the second on technological cooperation for the reduction of gas flaring, recovery and other techniques for reducing emissions.
The Algerian Space Agency (ASAL) and its Italian counterpart signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of space activities for peaceful purposes.
The agreements signed also cover a memorandum of understanding between the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA) and the Italian Economic and Industrial Confederation.
 
President Tebboune holds discussions with Italian Prime Minister
 
ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune held Monday, at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic, one-on-one discussions with Italy’s Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, who is on a working and friendship visit to Algeria.
 
Previously, the President of the Republic greeted Georgia Meloni with a solemn welcome.
 
The Italian Prime minister started on Sunday a working and friendship visit to Algeria, leading a large ministerial delegation.
 
She was welcomed, upon her arrival at Houari Boumediene international airport, by Prime Minister Aimene Benabderrahmane and members of the government.

ALGIERS- President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Monday greeted with a solemn welcome, at the presidency of the Republic, Italy's Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, who is on a working and Friendship visit to Algeria.
Meloni, who had started the visit on Sunday leading a large ministerial delegation, laid a wreath at the Martyr's Memorial, in Algiers, and observed a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of the glorious National Liberation War.
 
President Tebboune holds extensive talks with Italian Prime Minister
ALGIERS- President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, held on Monday at the Presidency of the Republic, extensive talks with President of the Italian Council of Ministers, Georgia Meloni, who is on a working and friendship visit to Algeria.
 The talks, which were extended to the delegations of both countries, were held at the end of the one-on-one talks between President Tebboune and Mrs Meloni.
Earlier, the President of the Republic had given a solemn welcome to Mrs Meloni at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic.

President Tebboune: Algeria intends to strengthen its strategic partnership with Italy
ALGIERS- President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, reaffirmed on Monday in Algiers Algeria's determination to strengthen its strategic partnership with Italy in terms of energy and to honour its commitments as a reliable regional and international supplier, praising the level and quality of bilateral relations, especially in recent years.
 "I would like to salute the level of strategic relations between Algeria and Italy, as well as the efforts made in recent years to strengthen the partnership and promote trade, which have achieved exceptional results in a short period of time," President Tebboune said in a joint press briefing with the President of the Italian Council of Ministers, Georgia Meloni.
The level of trade between Algeria and Italy has risen from 8 billion dollars in 2021, to 16 billion dollars, which is "an indicator of rapprochement and the fruit of the approaches we have adopted to establish an upward dynamic in various areas of cooperation, added the president.
In this regard, the President of the Republic said he had reaffirmed, during his talks with Mrs. Meloni, Algeria's determination to consolidate its place as a strategic partner of Italy in energy matters and to honour its commitments as a reliable regional and international supplier, as well as for Italian industrial investments in Algeria.
For President Tebboune, the visit of the President of the Italian Council of Ministers to Algeria is of particular importance, especially since it comes on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the signing by the two countries of the Treaty of Friendship and Good Neighbourliness.
 
Algeria-Italy: Sonatrach, Eni sign two strategic agreements on gas and emission reduction
ALGIERS - The Sonatrach group and the Italian group "ENI" signed, on Monday in Algiers, two strategic agreements on increasing gas supplies and reducing emissions, Sonatrach said in a statement.
This protocol "will be based on the evaluation of the following four axes: the extension of the existing gas transport capacity, the installation of a new gas pipeline to transport natural gas and alternatively hydrogen and blue and green ammonia, the installation of a submarine electric cable.
As for the second protocol of strategic objectives, it will "identify the opportunities for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Algeria and the best technologies for implementing such a reduction," the source said.
"These new agreements further strengthen the partnership between Italy and Algeria and confirm Sonatrach's key role as one of the main European energy suppliers," the national hydrocarbons company added.

Italian vehicles "Fiat” to be manufactured in Algeria next March
ALGIERS- President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, announced on Monday in Algiers the production, as of next March in Algeria, of vehicles of the Italian brand "Fiat," subsidiary of the multinational automobile group "Stellantis."
"The manufacturer Fiat is starting to open its workshops and the production of vehicles will begin very soon, in March, as well as the marketing of vehicles of the Italian brand, including electric," said President Tebboune during a joint press briefing with President of the Italian Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni.
The Ministry of Industry and the "Stellantis" group had signed a framework agreement on 13 October 2022 to develop car manufacturing activities and after-sales and spare parts services for the "Fiat" brand.
The "Fiat" car plant is located in the municipality of Tafraoui in the province of Oran on a 40-hectare plot of land and an adjacent 80-hectare plot of land dedicated to local suppliers and subcontractors.
Its initial production capacity is 60,000 vehicles/year from the first year before reaching 90,000 vehicles/year later.
It is expected that the manufacture of "Vespa" motorbikes will be launched in Guelma before "moving on to other stages" of this bilateral partnership, stressing that "the two countries are working to expand their cooperation on all levels," added President Tebboune.
In this regard, the President of the Republic recalled the symbolism of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of friendship and good neighbourliness.
"Algeria aims to make Italy a hub for the distribution of Algerian energy in Europe, whether electricity or gas, not only natural gas, but also hydrogen, ammonia and others," he added.
