President of Republic offers condolences to Syrian counterpart on devastating earthquake
 
ALGIERS-The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune sent Monday a message of condolences to his Syrian counterpart, Bashar Al-Assad following the devastating earthquake that struck his country causing thousands of victims and significant material damage.
"I learned with great sadness and deep sorrow of the news of the devastating earthquake that struck the brotherly country Syria, leaving thousands of victims, dead, injured and people and significant material damage," wrote President Tebboune in his message.
"Faced with the magnitude of this human disaster that has hit the Syrian brotherly people, I offer, on behalf of the Algerian people and Government, and my behalf, my heartfelt condolences to the President, Government, and people of the Republic of Syria, and my deep feelings of compassion to the families of victims in this painful circumstance, praying Allah the Almighty to help you overcome this ordeal and welcome the victims in His vast Paradise," continued the President of the Republic, wishing "a speedy recovery to the injured."
"I would also like to express Algeria's full support to the brotherly Syrian people in this difficult ordeal as well as our availability to contribute to any effort likely to mitigate the impact of this painful tragedy," he said.
 
President of Republic offers condolences to Turkish counterpart on devastating earthquake
ALGIERS-The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune sent on Monday a message of condolences to his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, following the devastating earthquake that hit a large part of the localities in the south-east of Turkey, in which he expressed his sincere condolences to the victims' families.
"I learned with great sadness and deep sorrow of the news of the devastating earthquake that struck a large part of southeastern Turkey, leaving thousands of victims, dead, injured and people still buried under the rubble and significant material damage," wrote President Tebboune in his message.
"Faced with the magnitude of this human disaster that has hit the Turkish brotherly people, I offer, on behalf of the Algerian people and Government, and my behalf, my heartfelt condolences to the President, Government, and people of the Republic of Turkey, and my deep feelings of compassion to the families of victims in this painful circumstance, praying Allah the Almighty to help you overcome this ordeal and welcome the victims in His vast Paradise," continued the President of the Republic, wishing "a speedy recovery to the injured."

 Earthquake in Turkey: Algeria dispatches 89 specialized civil protection personnel
 
ALGIERS-At the behest of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning, Brahim Merad gave instructions to send the first group of Civil Protection, composed of 89 personnel, to Turkey to participate in rescue and relief operations following the devastating earthquake that hit the country at dawn on Monday.
Merad recalled "the traditions of the Algerian state in terms of international solidarity to address natural disasters," stressing "the particular interest of the President of the Republic in this operation that he follows closely.”
The minister highlighted "the operationality and rapid response" of the Directorate General of Civil Protection, praising "the competence and professionalism of its staff.”
Moreover, Merad announced that another group of civil protection personnel will fly to Syria to participate in rescue and relief operations following the earthquake that also jolted this country.
 
Earthquake in Turkey and Syria: Foreign Ministry closely monitors situation of Algerian community
ALGIERS-The services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad are closely monitoring the situation of members of the national community in Turkey and Syria following the violent earthquake that hit these two countries on Monday morning. For the time being, no Algerian victim has been reported, said the ministry in a statement.
"Following the violent earthquake that struck Monday morning regions in the south of the Turkish Republic and in the north of the Syrian Arab Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad announced that its services are closely monitoring the situation of the Algerian community in these two countries, through a crisis unit set up for this purpose and full coordination with the embassies of Algeria in Damascus and Ankara, and its Consulate General in Istanbul, "said the source.
“The ministry assures that for the time being, no casualties have been reported among members of our community following this earthquake, and calls on Algerians residing in Turkey and Syria to respect the instructions of security and vigilance given by the local authorities in these two countries," said the statement.
The ministry also calls on Algerians to remain in constant contact with the services of the Algerian embassies in Ankara and Damascus, and the services of the Consulate General of Algeria in Istanbul via the following numbers:
