UNICEF Executive Board unanimously adopts cooperation programme with Algeria for 2023-2027

 
 
NEW YORK (United Nations)- The UNICEF Executive Board unanimously adopted on Wednesday, in New York, the cooperation programme with Algeria for the period 2023-2027, which will contribute to supporting the efforts made by Algeria to achieve the sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), notably in the fields of education, capacity building, first aid and social welfare.
 
The works of the annual meeting of the UNICEF Executive Board, held on Wednesday, and to which Algeria took part as a member of the board, alongside 40 countries, culminated in the adoption, unanimously, of the UNICEF’s cooperation programme with Algeria for the period from March 2023 to December 2027.
 
In a speech in an open debate, Algeria’s permanent representative to the United Nations, ambassador Nadir Larbaoui, affirmed that Algeria has welcomed this new programme and expressed its great gratitude to the support provided by the UNICEF, and to the team in charge of developing a bilateral cooperation programme, which is the result of constructive consultations and a close cooperation between all the concerned parties and partners, including the civil society.
 
Algeria has also affirmed its full support to the priorities set out in the document of the programme which, as a whole, are coherent and consistent with the priorities of the government’s action plan (2021-2024), the national policies of promotion of children’s rights and the of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2023-2027, as well as the UNICEF’s strategic plan for 2022-2025.
 
The programme will contribute to supporting the efforts made by Algeria in order to achieve sustainable development, notably in the sectors of education, skills training, primary health care and social welfare, added Larbaoui.
