Syria quake: President Al Assad welcomes efforts of Algerian Civil Protection, CRA

 
ALGIERS- Syrian President Bachar Al-Assad welcomed Friday, in the stricken district Bustan Al Qasr in Aleppo, the efforts made by the Algerian teams of the Civil Protection and of the Algerian Red Crescent (CRA) which are currently in Syria to participate in the search and rescue operations following the earthquake which hit on Monday Syria and Turkey, leaving more than 21,000 deaths so far.  
 
In a statement to the mission of the Algerian Television in Syria, during his visit to this district to find out about the damage of the seism, the Syrian President affirmed “I belong to a generation that learnt, very young at school, that Algeria is the country of one and a half million martyrs, and how the Syrian women sold their personal effects to send aid to Algerians” during the Liberation war.
 
The relations between Algeria and Syria are based on “the support of Syria to Algeria” during the national liberation war, as well as on “Algeria’s support for decades to the Arab and Syrian causes,” he said, adding that “it is not surprising to see this magnificent surge of solidarity.”
 
“We feel that the Algerians have come from the heart of Syria to help the Syrians,” said the Syrian President.
 
“It is the sincere feeling that we’ve always had towards the Algerians,” he added.
