Installation of Algerian-Austrian Parliamentary Friendship Group

 
ALGIERS- The Algerian-Austrian Parliamentary Friendship Group was set up on Wednesday at the People’s National Assembly, as part of the strengthening of the bilateral relations and the activation of the parliamentary diplomacy between the two countries, the Parliament’s Lower House said in a statement.
The installation ceremony was chaired by Ouahid Al Sidi El-Cheikh, deputy speaker of the People’s National Assembly, in the presence of deputy director of Western Europe countries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Lyamine Achache and Austria’s ambassador to Algeria Christine Moser.
In his speech, Al Sidi El-Cheikh reviewed “the historical relations between the two countries, based on the mutual respect and regular consultations,” stressing the importance of the parliamentary friendship groups in “strengthening the friendship relations between the two countries, notably in the face of the radical changes characterizing the international relations in the past recent years.”
The deputy speaker of the People’s National Assembly hopes “this friendship group contributes to the strengthening of the cooperation and exchanges between the two countries to build strong and effective partnerships serving the common interests, meeting the aspirations of the two countries’ citizens and favoring the intensification of the consultations on major issues that concern both countries,” added the source.
For his part, Austria’s ambassador emphasized “the importance of strengthening consultations and cooperation in all fields,” affirming her country’s determination to “consolidate the cooperation with Algeria particularly in trade, health and culture,” the statement concluded.
