Algeria strongly condemns terrorist attack in Burkina Faso's north
ALGIERS- Algeria has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in the province Oudalan, in the north of Burkina Faso, causing several casualties among Burkinabe's forces, expressing its solidarity with Burkina Faso and all African countries facing counterterrorism challenges, the ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad said Tuesday in a statement.
"Algeria strongly condemns the terrorist attack perpetrated in the province of Oudalan in the north of Burkina Faso, resulting in several casualties among the Burkinabe's forces and expresses its sincere condolences and feelings of sympathy to this sister country and the families of the victims."
Algeria also "expresses solidarity with Burkina Faso and all African countries facing counterterrorism challenges," the statement said.
"On the basis of the recommendations included in the report of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune to the 36th AU Heads of State and Government Summit, as coordinator of the continental efforts against terrorism and violent extremism, Algeria reiterates its call to increase and coordinate efforts at the regional and international levels to eradicate this scourge and deal with its repercussions, through a global and multidimensional approach."
Algeria "stresses the need to strengthen African countries' defence capabilities to curb terrorism, which threatens stability and undermines development efforts in Africa," the statement concluded.
