47th anniversary of SADR proclamation: Sahrawi people reject Moroccan expansionist policy

 
SHAHEED AL HAFED (Sahrawi Refugee Camps)- Sahrawi President and Secretary General of the Polisario Front Brahim Ghali affirmed that the Sahrawi people reject the policy of the Moroccan occupier which continues its expansionist policy and human rights violations, in addition to the plundering of natural resources in the occupied Sahrawi territories.
 
In his speech on the occasion of the celebration of the 47th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Republic, Ghali underlined that the 16th Polisario Front Congress decided that the Sahrawi people cannot accept the continuation by the Moroccan occupier of its expansionist policy, human rights violations, plundering of our country’s natural resources, and its provocative practices in occupied areas of our country.
 
The Sahrawi president pointed out the violation by Morocco of the ceasefire agreement on 13 November 2020, which, he added, forced the Sahrawi people to resume the armed struggle, as a legitimate right.
 
The Polisario Front “cannot under any circumstances be involved in any approach that doesn’t respect the clear basis and legal reference of the conflict in Western Sahara, as an issue of decolonization, by enabling the Sahrawi people to exercise their inalienable and non-negotiable right to self-determination and independence,” he added.
 
He called on the United Nations to enable, as soon as possible, the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to carry out its missions.
 
Stressing that his country “is resolutely moving forward on the path of building, enshrinement of its position and completion of its sovereignty over all its national territory,” the Sahrawi president reiterated “his country’s full willingness to honour its international commitments to peace, security, stability and progress for all the peoples of the region and the world.”
 
Ghali also discussed the dimensions and significance of the 47th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Republic, celebrated on Monday, through three main stages among the stages of the Sahrawi people’s struggle.
 
The first stage consists in the creation of the Polisario Front, the outbreak of the armed struggle and the proclamation of national unity. The second stage is that of the building while the last one is that of the current situation.”
