CERAWeek 2023: Arkab discusses, in Houston, with officials of big American energy companies

 
ALGIERS- Minister of Energy and Mines Mohamed Arkab met, in Houston (USA), on the sidelines of his participation in the 41^st Conference on Energy “CERAWeek 2023,” the officials of several big American energy companies with whom he mainly discussed the partnership and cooperation prospects with Sonatrach Group, the ministry said Thursday in a statement.
 
In this regard, Arkab held talks with the head of the American company for exploration and production “Chevron” Clay Neff with whom he “reviewed the investment and partnership prospects between Sonatrach and Chevron in terms of hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation, in order to expand the country’s hydrocarbon reserves and meet the national needs in the long term, while securing the world’s energy supplies, notably to Europe,” said the statement.
 
 
The two sides examined “ways and means to strengthen the cooperation in terms of technical and technological assistance in the upstream oil and gas sector and services, as well as the carbon emission reduction throughout the hydrocarbon value chain.”
 
The minister met with CEO of “Occidental Petroleum Corporation” Vicki Hollub with whom he discussed the cooperation relations between Sonatrach and this American company, as well as ways to strengthen and promote, particularly in the field hydrocarbon prospecting and exploration, and the development of deposits within the new law on hydrocarbons, according to the ministry’s statement.
 
At the US Department of Commerce, Arkab met the CEO of PPG Energy, an American company which proposes services in the field of electricity and petroleum, with whom he discussed “the expertise and new technologies in terms of electricity supply and oil services.”
 
On the sidelines of his participation in this Conference, the minister held discussions with the deputy manager of the geophysical engineering company TGS Nopec on “ways to strengthen the cooperation in geological and geophysical studies and in services related to hydrocarbon in order to increase efforts in the field of oil and gas exploration and drilling in Algeria, by carrying out a series of advanced geological and geophysical prospecting, in addition to the new techniques of solar and wind energies.”   
 
The two sides agreed to implement an action plan and hold meetings by videoconference with the National Company of geophysics ENAGEO coming under Sonatrach Group, for technological assistance in this field, said the source.
