Algerian-Russia cooperation
President of Republic receives Chair of Council of Russian FederationALGIERS-The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune received Thursday in Algiers the Chair of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko, said a statement of the Presidency of the Republic.
The audience took place at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic, in the presence of the Speaker of the Council of the Nation (Upper House), Salah Goudjil, the Chief of Staff at the Presidency of the Republic, Abdelaziz Khellaf, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Amar Belani, and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Algiers, Valerian Shuvaev, said the statement.
President Tebboune receives official invitation from Russian counterpart
ALGIERS- The speaker of Russia's Federal Council, Valentina Matvienko, said Thursday, in Algiers, she handed over to president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, a message from his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, inviting him for a visit to the Federation of Russia and another invitation to take part in the second Russia-Africa Summit.
"I have handed Mr President of the Republic a message from his Russian counterpart inviting him for a visit to the Federation of Russia, and another official invitation to take part in the second Russia-Africa Summit," Matvienko told reporters following the audience granted to her by President Tebboune.
The Russian official reiterated her country's support for Algeria's membership of the BRICS.
"Algeria wants to join the BRICS and we, in Russia, support the move," she said, adding that she expressed warm thanks to President Tebboune "for Algeria's weighted position on regional and international events, and for its commitment to good relations with the Federation of Russia."

ALGIERS- The speaker of Russia's Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, on Thursday expressed her country's support for Algeria's desire to join the BRICS, stressing that the Federation of Russia considered Algeria as a "reliable and very important partner in the African continent."
"For Russia, Algeria is a reliable and very important partner in the African continent, a country with whom we have a significant cooperation in trade and economy," Matvienko told reporters following an audience granted to her by the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, at the presidency's headquarters.
"Algeria wants to join the BRICS and we, in Russia, support this move," she added.
The Russian official said she "handed over a message to the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, from his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, inviting him to make an official visit to the Federation of Russia, and another invitation to take part in the second Russia-Africa Summit."
